Heidi B. Parker

Heidi is the firm’s senior associate attorney. She dedicates approximately half of her practice towards representing individual employees in both litigation and non-litigation settings. In the litigation arena, Heidi has become proficient in pursuing claims for unpaid wages (e.g., overtime violations, wage theft claims, prevailing wage claims, etc.), discrimination and retaliation claims, suits arising under the Family and Medical Leave Act, and matters involving breach of contract. In these matters, Heidi regularly appears in state and federal court. Heidi also represents public sector employees before municipal pension boards and disciplinary commissions. In the non-litigation setting, Heidi frequently represents employees in severance negotiations and has counseled employees concerning most every facet of their employment.

The other half of Ms. Parker’s practice is dedicated to representing public and private sector labor unions. She does this most frequently in the context of contract negotiations, labor arbitrations and unfair labor practice and representation proceedings. While the bulk of her arbitration experience has centered on grievance arbitrations, Heidi also has experience handling the complexities that frequently arise in interest arbitration. As an ardent union advocate, Heidi frequently appears before the Illinois Labor Relations Board and the National Labor Relations Board.

Heidi is active in the professional advancement of labor and employment law. Ms. Parker is currently a member of the American Bar Association’s Labor and Employment Law (“LEL”) Section, and serves as the union co-chair of the Family and Medical Leave Act Subcommittee of the LEL Section’s Federal Labor Standards Legislation Committee. Ms. Parker has authored conference publications and has spoken on a variety of related subjects at local and national levels.

Heidi received her J.D. in 2006. She has dedicated her career to labor and employment law; first, as a law clerk with Asher, Gittler & D’Alba, Ltd. during law school, and then as in-house counsel with the Illinois Fraternal Order of Police Labor Council from 2007 to 2011. Heidi returned to the firm as an associate attorney in 2011. Since then, she has become an integral part of the firm’s litigation team of labor and employment attorneys.
